The walkers on the large lake Segeberger did not believe their eyes: dead fish. Thousands of dead fish drifted in the water. The mass extinction in Bad Segeberg is a mystery to experts who started work on Monday. It is still unclear what killed the animals – and if there is still danger.
On Sunday, Holger Facklam was walking on the water. During the morning walk the Neversdorf encountered the lifeless fish . He took pictures with his smartphone and sent two of them to the editors of the Segeberger Zeitung. “Do you have any explanation for this fish kill?” He wrote in his email.
The SZ got to the bottom of the matter yesterday – but there is still a great deal of confusion among the experts. Why the fish died, “we do not know,” said construction chief Antje Langethal . However, it had already been turned on the water authority of the district Segeberg and had a local date. The dead fish are found mainly on the lake side, which borders on the oven meadow.
