“Several” staff from Newbury’s Vodafone headquarters were sent home after coming into contact with a person who later tested positive for coronavirus.

The communications giant has confirmed a number of staff were found to have been in contact with a visitor to the office in The Connection.

That person has since tested positive for coronavirus .

As a result, the staff were told to work from home by the company on Friday, February 28.

A spokeswoman said: “We are aware that several of our employees in the UK have been in contact with a person visiting the office, who has tested positive for the coronavirus.

“As a precautionary measure, we have identified those employees and asked that they work from home.

“Our dedicated team will continue to monitor the situation, and we will take further action if required in line with advice from the health authorities.”

The news follows the closure of a number of schools around Berkshire for deep cleaning as a precaution.
