Fishermen in the city of Júlio Borges, 602 kilometers from Teresina, denounce the mysterious killing of fish in the Algodões II dam. Earlier this week, more than 10,000 tilapias and tambaquis died in the reservoir in the reservoir.
On video, a fisherman is perplexed to find that all the fish that were in the 22 tanks of the reservoir died. “It is a loss to die,” he says.
The president of the Colony of Fishermen of Júlio Borges, Edcarlos Alves, told Cidadeverde.com that, in addition to the environmental tragedy, the financial loss of fishermen is “very high”. “Below, we lost R $ 80 to R $ 100 thousand. It took more than seven months to care for the fish and now, when it was close to us being able to sell, this problem happens. We don’t know what to do, ”says Edcarlos.
The president of the Colony reports that the associated fishermen are discouraged and regret the damage right now in a pandemic moment. “We don’t know what to do, we spent almost a year raising these fish and this tragedy happens”, he laments.
The biologist at the Municipal Environment Department, Amelice Araújo, said that a sample of the reservoir water was collected to analyze what would have caused the death. Some dead animals were also collected.
