Magnitude 5.6 Earthquake Depth 10 km Strikes Kodiak Island Region, Alaska on 1st Sept 2025

The region consists of Kodiak Island, the second-largest island in the U.S., and the surrounding Kodiak Archipelago, characterized by mountainous terrain, deep bays, and heavily forested areas.

It is a prime location for wildlife viewing, particularly for the endemic Kodiak brown bear, and supports diverse species of Pacific salmon and birds.

The island has a temperate marine climate.
