European forecasters have warned that winter 2016 – 2017 will be the coldest in the last 100 years

Cold Weather Alert
According to forecasters, winter 2016-2017 in Europe will be the coldest for 100 years. Arctic air masses will arrive in a few months already and the sun never shows up on the horizon that very rarely. What is the level of probability of these forecasts, the specialists promise to check out them in the next few weeks, when they will have new data.

European specialists believe that the inhabitants of the old world should already make provision of sweaters and jackets. The German meteorologist Dominik Jung said the 2016-2017 season promises to be unusually cold. The specialist said that it ‘shiver’ just by looking at the maps and models established by the national weather Service. According to him, the lowest temperatures will be saved during the months of January and February. Don’t expect a thaw of spring, even in March: the Europeans will have to wait for the month of April to warm up under the rays of the Sun. Meteorologist Joe Bastardi, AccuWeather weather service, agrees with his colleague. It also poses a bit gratifying diagnosis by saying that “it will be very cold. Its forecast is based on the fact that next winter will be marked by the arrival of Arctic air masses which move over Europe. The reduction in solar activity during this period will increase the drop in temperatures that will be even lower. Elena Volosiouk, specialist Meteorological Center Fobos, notes that the solar system is also changing of seasons.

“This phenomenon is related first to the disruption of the movement of air masses. When air blows from the Atlantic ocean, winter is mild and is marked by recurrent thaws and a wet snow. Remember the last winters: thaws almost never took place. We have had hurricanes from the South, which resulted in falls and snow storms. And then the Arctic cold happened. Usually, the change in the forms of traffic is related to solar activity. Today, we face a period of local reduction of the temperature, but it is premature to talk about global cooling and “ice age.”

  1. Let’s hope they are wrong. Many thousands of people across Europe can no longer afford to heat their homes if we have a really cold winter like some of those in living memory. When politicians mandate the use of expensive renewable energy and add the cost to power bills, they don’t consider the consequences. I suppose they think we can’t have such a cold winter anymore, but the world has warmed only by 1°. The effect will be devastating on the elderly and vulnerable.

  2. I think it is important to define ‘Europe’ here. It all depends on whether the Siberian high pushes west and if so, how far. Whether fronts track West from central Russia bringing snow and if so, how far west and south they go. Whether anAtlsntic blocking high drives fronts south from Greenland into Europe and if so, how far south and east they penetrate.

It is quite possible for U.K. To be unusually cold and Ukraine to be unusually mild, after all….

Unlikely to have December 1981 in the U.K. Without a hard winter in Germany and Austria…
