The City of Snoqualmie is issuing evacuation notices for residents of a downtown neighborhood as water levels from the Snoqulamie River continue to rise.
Residents and businesses in the Southeast Park Street neighborhood of downtown Snoqualmie should evacuate the area now, the city said. The streets affected are Mountain Avenue Southeast, Southeast Walnut and Southeast Spruce streets, Spruce Place Southeast, Meadowbrook Way Southeast from Southeast Park Street to Meadowbrook Bridge and Southeast Park Street from Meadowbrook Way Southeast to Centennial Fields.
Shelter is available at the Snoqualmie Valley YMCA, 35018 S.E. Ridge St., on Snoqualmie Ridge. The parking lot at Snoqualmie Community Park is available to move cars to higher ground.
Residents along the Snoqualmie River, which remains at a Phase 4 flood stage, should make necessary preparations in case of an immediate evacuation, the city said. A Phase 4 flood means some residential areas may experience “dangerous, high velocities and flooding of homes,” according to the King County Flood Warning Center.
Sand and sandbags are available at the King Street lot in downtown Snoqualmie.
Highway 203 is closed in both directions between Carnation and Fall City because of flooding, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
The Snoqualmie Valley Transportation Shuttle service is being rerouted off Southeast Fall City-Snoqualmie Road between Snoqualmie Parkway and Preston-Fall City Road Southeast, according to King County Metro Transit. Passengers should use the stops on Railroad Avenue Southeast south of Snoqualmie Parkway or on Southeast Redmond-Fall City Road west of Preston-Fall City Road Southeast.
