A power outage affecting more than 15,400 residents struck parts of Weber County overnight.

Power was lost in parts of Ogden, South Ogden and Washington Terrace at about 1:26 a.m. from a lightning strike that damaged distribution lines, Rocky Mountain Power spokesman Paul Murphy told the Standard-Examiner.

“A lot of our outages are due to weather but rarely do they get that big,” Murphy said.

Crews responded to repair the equipment and power was restored to all but about 1,400 residents by 2:24 a.m., according to Murphy. Power was restored to all homes by about 8:15 a.m.
