A new eruption has begun at the volcano this morning. An eruptive fissure opened on the upper north side of Dolomieu, generating a curtain of lava fountains along the fissure feeding several lava flows directed north and northwest.

The eruption began at 08:41 local time according to a statement of the prefecture. It came without much warning, as it had only been preceded by a short period of tremor starting from 07:30 local time triggering a first alarm, while there had been no particular precursory signs during the days before.

Public access to the Enclos, as usual, has been closed by authorities.
