Plane crashes and injures a woman in Davie County, USA

A small plane crashed about 9:30 Sunday morning in Davie County.

Jerry Myers, the Davie County Emergency Management Coordinator, said the plane went down in a cow field that sits off of Interstate 40, and travelers at a nearby highway rest stop initially came to the pilot’s aid.

Myers said fire and hazardous-materials teams put out the fire and contained the fuel leak, and that the pilot of the downed plane was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for treatment.

She was conscious and oriented as she was being transported to the hospital, Myers said.

He said Federal Aviation Administration officials will begin an investigation of the crash on Monday morning.
