In case you didn’t know it yet, Jan 15 is also the day when Pope Francis is expected to arrive in the country.
“The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced that a potential cyclone spotted off Visayas is forecast to enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Thursday, January 15,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.
According to PAGASA weather forecaster Buddy Javier, “the low pressure area (LPA) was spotted about 2,000 kilometers east of Visayas-Mindanao region.” It could “bring rains to parts of Visayas, including Leyte province where Pope Francis is set to visit on Saturday, January 17, to meet with victims of Super Typhoon Yolanda.”
The report noted: “Javier said the they’re looking at three possible scenarios for the LPA: It could intensify and hit the Philippine landmass or re-curve north due to a high pressure area.”
But let’s all hope, as Javier said, that “the LPA could also dissipate before even making landfall due to the northeast monsoon.”
